Who I am

I’m a sustainability researcher and PhD candidate at Wageningen University, exploring how hospitals can reduce reliance on single-use materials. I use sociological tools to understand—and change—complex institutional practices.

I belong to work package 3 “How we act” in a Dutch consortium project “Evidence-based Strategies to create Circular Hospitals: Applying the 10-Rs framework to healthcare’” or ESCH-R.

I want to challenge the patterns that keep our societies tied to wasteful ways of living and working. My mission is to make sustainability part of the everyday — not as an afterthought or an added effort, but an indistinguishable part of the fabric of life.

Before this PhD project I worked in strategy consulting at Gesund Partners, a Finnish boutique consultancy specialised in systems change and health care. There, my focus was not only on sustainability per se, but also co-creation methods in strategy writing. The time I spent with Gesund Partners was formational, complementing the systems analysis skills from my Sustainability Science master’s with the skills and tools to enact change.

For the story of the meandering path from biology to management consulting and circular economy, please see this blog post.
